PROJECT NEWS – HIGHLIGHTS

VISA AND MASTERCARD DATA CENTRE – EUROPEAN OPERATIONS

ONE20 was proud to design the Data Centre for Mastercard and Visa for their European operations.  We would love to show some pictures of the technology.

Unfortunately it is highly secure information.  But needless to say it was a very interesting project to work on with many technological and security challenges.

It is an honour to be shortlisted for a lifetime achievement award, however it is not all over. I consider myself only halfway through my life as an architect.Screenshot (264)ONE20 Architects have been announced as the overall winners of the National Sustainability Award for Heritage Architecture!

Here is the press release.——————————————————————————————————————————–

Sustainability Awards winners revealed – by Branko Miletic HERITAGE AWARD WINNER – ONE20 Architects

Skipping Girl Vinegar Factory Conversion by ONE20 Architects
Built in 1890, the building was initially a bakery, then it was turned into a vinegar-making factory in 1900, later becoming known as the “Skipping Girl Vinegar” brand.

The project has been designed to be sustainable down to the construction phase which involved a zero-waste policy, where no rubbish skips were allowed on site and where every material was re-used, recycled or re-purposed.

By using high performance windows, thermal mass, insulation, natural ventilation and shading, this project challenges the way we build things in a sustainable manner.

By re-using each material found onsite, it can be said that the building itself was totally preserved.

From the judges: “Adaptive reuse is a good thing, but re-purposing every piece of old material in the process takes the Skipping Girl Factory project to a higher level of performance, and makes it an exemplar for so much of our urban renewal and revitalisation.”

Residential Architecture

ONE20 has an extensive range of experience in residential development from one off bespoke homes, to subdivisions, multi-unit designs and large scale developments.  We are specialists in warehouse conversions and sustainable home renovations. ONE20 has developed a strong sustainable ethos and this has led to award winning schemes in Australia and also in the UK with our development of a patented low cost carbon neutral home range which is about to go into production.  ONE20 has won international design competitions in the UK for sustainable home development.  Its latest homes concept produced for Sustainable Villages Limited will lead to a step change in the way homes are delivered in the UK.  In Melbourne Australia we have been finalists in awards for  “The best ecologically sustainable design” and “The Best renovation extension” as well as the Dulux Colour awards.  Our conversion of the former Skipping Girl Vinegar factory to a single residence was recently featured on Grand Designs Australia.   This factory conversion won the Build Magazine prize for Best Residential Conversion in 2017 and the National Sustainability Award for heritage.  Our experience is truly global and so the solutions we deliver are informed by the very best practice we have researched internationally; from energy conservation in Northern Europe to stable environments in the Middle East.  Our experience extends to the urban planning of large scale developments and latterly to integrated solutions with community ownership components, significant water conservation strategies and site management strategies including waste disposal.

ONE20 has also provided services to land owners promoting their land for development and then working with them to identify and contract with suitable developers, always with the aim of procreating best value for our Clients.
