Holyrood Residence

HOME RENOVATION
Hampton, Victoria, Australia

CLIENT BRIEF
Second story renovation including new kitchen and living area and bathrooms. Light and a feeling of space are the priorities. It was very important to the clients that the house should appear relatively unchanged from the street.

SITE OPPORTUNITIES
The dining room opens on both sides with full height bi-fold doors. A private internal courtyard is created on the Northern side with an open deck to the South.

DESIGN APPROACH
The home is opened up; however discreet private areas are created through the use of changes in ceiling height. Natural light is brought into all parts of the home to create a feeling of serenity.

“Adrian,
Whether or not you are awarded for your work on our house I just want to tell you again how lovely it is to live in the space you have designed.  If it were up to me what you have done here would be a worthy winner.

Just to also let you know that the temperature in the house the last few hot days has been quite temperate, I know we haven’t really had a heat wave as such and this would probably push things a little more but we’re very happy with the way the house is dealing with the heat and how quickly we can cool it with all the ventilation options. So well done.
I love the way the light plays in the rooms. It does good things for the mood.”  – Kerrie H – Owner
